Overview

This three-day lesson provides high school students with a simulated workplace experience, allowing them to apply academic knowledge, develop essential workplace skills and gain a better understanding of potential career paths.


Learning Objectives

Students will be able to:

  • Introduce the concept of a workplace simulation.

  • Prepare for roles and responsibilities in a workplace simulation.

  • Engage in a simulated workplace scenario.

  • Debrief, reflect and connect simulated workplace experiences to future career readiness and goals.

Note

Work-Based Learning in a secondary CTE Program of Study is a Federal Program Quality Indicator for Perkins V accountability. Oregon schools must ensure that Work-Based Learning experiences connected to a high school CTE Program of Study meet the criteria and types as outlined by the Oregon Department of Education (please visit the WBL webpage for resources and support).

The quick-start guide and lesson plan do not meet the requirements for Work-Based Learning experience in a secondary CTE Program of Study.
